Agricultural show

An eventful weekend in Swellendam and very unique to a farming community. The annual agricultural show has lots to offer from show horses to show cats, food stalls, fun rides for kids, live entertainment and many more.

Fun for young and old. Come and pick your own berries at Wildebraam Berry Estate, situated 2km from Swellendam in the beautiful Hermitage valley.

Old Mutual Wealth Double Century
South Africa’s premier endurance road cycling event. Surrounded by the Langeberg mountain range and rolling wheat lands of the Overberg, Swellendam is the ideal location for the Old Mutual Wealth Double Century.

June to October

Whale Watching
Whale Watching Season: June to October
During the winter months, Southern Right whales can be spotted along the south coast from Cape Town to Mossel bay. De Hoop Nature Reserve, only 50km from Swellendam, is one of the world’s best land-based whale watching areas.

Canola Season – Fields of Gold
Season: July – August
Is it even canola season if you did not post a picture of yourself in a canola field? Swellendam has a big farming community, producing huge amounts of grain, Canola oil, meat & dairy as well as exporting Citrus, berries, Persimmons, wool and wine all over the world.

Around the Pot
Date: July
South Africa’s greatest gravel race. Various distances ranging to choose from 20, 50, 60, 100 and 200 miles. If you are an enthusiastic biker, this race is not to be missed.
